Purple butterfly resting on an open blank journal beside tea

Welcome to my website – thanks so much for visiting.

My name is Richard Ganjavi, and I work as a Primary School Teacher in the Midlands, UK. As well as my work in education, I am a published author, and advocate for children’s mental health and wellbeing – especially navigating grief and loss.

My book, Whispers of a Purple Butterfly, was written following the loss of one of my twin daughters, Bella, in August 2024. Written as a fictional story about a ten-year-old surviving twin, Whispers of a Purple Butterfly seeks to provide support, understanding, comfort and hope for anyone – not just children – who experiences issues with emotional regulation, mental health struggles, neurodivergence, and crucially grief and loss.

I hope you enjoy exploring my website, and find useful information which is supportive to you.

Happy reading!

Whispers of a Purple Butterfly

Ten year old Lucy has always known she is a surviving twin. She has just never known what that truly means.

Full of magic, mystery, and the unstoppable power of the human heart, Whispers of a Purple Butterfly is a funny, tender story about grief, identity, football, and learning to believe — at last — that you are enough.
